IT in my DNA

Last month I participated in the "IT in my DNA" raffle organized by MSDN and TechNet magazine. To win free tickets to TechDays 2011, you can share your story that says why you have IT in your DNA. This is my story...

In 2000 I was fortunate enough to attend the Microsoft® PDC (Professional Developer Conference) in Orlando Florida. The event was great and the setting spectacular as usual. I remember well on Wednesday evening we were expected in SeaWorld, home of the -back then- longest rollercoaster in the world, the Kraken. Shows, rides, and exhibits were opened exclusively for PDC attendees, and Microsoft had dinner buffets set up everywhere in the theme park.

Only, I never got to go there. You see, PDC 2000 was also the event where Microsoft® .Net was released to the world and developers got their first glimpse of what .Net was. That very same day I got my hands on the first-ever Visual Studio.Net, which included for the first time ever the all new C# compiler. So I just had to spend that evening on my hotel room writing my first-ever “Hello World” in C#.

That’s what it means to have IT in your DNA ;)
